halde – Web design & UI · Concept by allkind
Web design concept for the furniture gallery halde.

Furniture that outlives its owners deserves a website that doesn’t get loud.
A gallery for reissues of forgotten pieces and new work from small workshops. The website should feel like a catalogue, not a shop.
Large images, a sober grotesque in capitals for the navigation, and every piece with inventory number, material and price.
A calm presence in which the furniture plays the leading role and every detail has its fixed place.
The idea
halde is our concept for a gallery showing furniture you don’t replace after a season: reissues of old designs and new pieces from small workshops.
The website should show exactly this attitude. Little text, many images and an order like an archive.

Inventory instead of advertising copy
Each piece gets an inventory number, a name, the material and the price. Nothing more sits below the image, and nothing more is needed.
The images vary in size and are placed freely, as in an exhibition. Scrolling becomes a tour.

The object of the month
One piece a month takes the stage: a large image, a short story and a table with workshop, material, dimensions, edition and delivery time.
The workshops have their own list, and the newsletter is called “Letters from the archive”. Everything stays factual, so the furniture can make its impact.

«Built to be repaired.»
